Our love for all things Korean has been growing over the years.

From finding out about the must visit spots in Korea…

to learning to cook that perfect kimchi-jjigae

to understaning more about the land of the morning calm and drooliciouis men (hehe!)

and most of all…to learning the language…

so that we may better understand the dramas and music and most important of all…and tell our ‘idol’ how much we like them. hehe!

Hollym Publisherwas founded in 1963 is probably one the few, first publisher to engae the world Korea by publishing books about Korea in English and distirbuting them over the world. That is saying alot considering that the word Hallyu was not even in the dictionary then. And speaking of dictionaries, Hollym has 8 different dictionaries to suit different needs.

Over the years, I’ve seen their range of titles expand, constantly updating and publishing new editions and new series from language to cultural to those for the very young. One of the series that drew my interest particularly was the Modern Korean Short Stories. They are a series of short stories by some of the well known authors beautifully illustrated and published in a small handy size> The books are published in both Korean and English, allowing the reader to read it in its original Korean language and then the translated version. My personal favourite? The Weathered Blossom, about love between the elderly.

Sadly though, I’m still far from understanding the story in Korean. :(
